After a few "behind the scenes" collaborations with Eric, and contributing some post-production work on Beyond Humanity, Joe began to take on a larger role in 2007 by filling in for Jon during a stretch of shows, and eventually staying on as a second live keyboardist for select dates.

A one-time member of the COM-Link remix team, Joe also records ambient textural music under the name Viral Consciousness, and has a role similar to that of Interface in several other electronic music projects.
